Vintage Sands Casino Ashtray

$50.00

This vintage clear ashtray comes from the Sands in Las Vegas.

The Sands Hotel and Casino opened on December 15, 1952, on the Las Vegas Strip, promising “A Place in the Sun” to visitors arriving in the desert. Developed by Texas businessman Jake Freedman and entertainment impresario Jack Entratter, the resort opened with 200 rooms, a casino, and a showroom designed to attract the biggest names in show business. Its elegant atmosphere and celebrity appeal quickly helped establish the Sands as one of the Strip’s most glamorous destinations.

The Sands became legendary for its Copa Room, where Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and the rest of the Rat Pack performed during the 1950s and 1960s. The hotel also served as a filming location for Ocean’s 11 in 1960, cementing its place in popular culture. After decades of celebrity performances and casino glamour, the Sands closed on June 30, 1996, and was demolished that November to make way for The Venetian.
