Vintage Golden Gate Casino Ashtray

$50.00

This vintage yellow ashtray comes from The Golden Gate in Las Vegas.

The Golden Gate opened in downtown Las Vegas in 1955, when investors purchased the historic Sal Sagev hotel and casino and gave it a new name inspired by San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. The property itself dated back to 1906, when it opened as the Hotel Nevada, one of the first permanent hotels in the young railroad town. By the time it became the Golden Gate, Fremont Street was already developing into the heart of Las Vegas gambling.

In 1959, the Golden Gate introduced its famous 50-cent shrimp cocktail, which became one of Las Vegas’s best-known bargain dishes.
